That mismatch is the first thing to understand about this comparison, and it is why every number below carries a label telling you which model year it comes from.

The model years do not line up, and that changes the comparison
One of these vehicles has been announced. The other is on the lot today.
Lincoln revealed the 2027 Nautilus on 08/13/2026, four days before this page was written. Lincoln's own wording is that it is "available to order now, with showroom arrivals expected in early 2027." The Lexus RX 350h, meanwhile, is a 2026. As of 08/17/2026 Lexus has announced no 2027 RX, and Lexus's own "What's New" material for 2027 covers the ES, ES Electric and TZ, not the RX. So a 2027 Nautilus is being compared against the newest RX that exists.
Two practical consequences follow from that. The first is pricing. Lincoln has not published a 2027 Nautilus MSRP, and the 2027 configurator on lincoln.com currently returns a 404. We will not print an estimated 2027 price on a dealer page, so the only Nautilus pricing you will see here is the 2026 pricing, clearly labeled as context rather than as what a 2027 will cost.
The second is specification detail. Lincoln's 08/13/2026 announcement restated a great deal about the 2027 car, but not everything. It did not restate cargo volume, exterior dimensions, towing capacity, ground clearance or EPA fuel economy. Those figures below come from the 2026 Nautilus and are labeled that way. They are the best available guide to what a 2027 will do, and they are not a promise about it.
Practically, that leaves a Chicago buyer three choices this month, and it is worth being blunt about them. You can order a 2027 and wait for delivery in early 2027, which means committing to a build before Lincoln has published a price. You can buy a 2026 Nautilus, where pricing, EPA figures, cargo volume and crash-test results are all documented today. Or you can buy the RX 350h, which is also a fully documented 2026. Only the first of those three carries an unknown number, and that is the honest reason this page does not push you toward the 2027.

Two very different approaches to a hybrid luxury SUV
One is a turbocharged high-output hybrid. The other is a naturally aspirated Atkinson-cycle hybrid built for efficiency.
Lincoln confirmed for 2027 a "2.0L turbocharged high-output hybrid with 100-kW electric motor, 285 combined horsepower, continuously variable transmission." Lexus describes the RX 350h as "a hybrid motor coupled with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder Atkinson-cycle gasoline engine" producing "246 total system horsepower and 233 lb.-ft. of torque." The Lincoln is the quicker and stronger of the two on paper. The Lexus is built to sip fuel, and it does.
The torque figure most often quoted for the Nautilus hybrid, 295 lb-ft at 3,000 rpm, is a 2026 number that Lincoln did not restate on 08/13/2026. We show it below because it is the only published figure, and we label it accordingly.

Lincoln put numbers behind that in the same announcement: 10,370 Nautilus vehicles sold in the second quarter of 2026, the nameplate's strongest second quarter ever, with nearly 65% of clients arriving from other premium utility brands. That is worth reading twice if you are cross-shopping. Most of the people buying this vehicle are coming from a competing luxury badge, and more than half of them are choosing the hybrid.
A naming point worth getting right
There is no separate "Nautilus Hybrid" model. The hybrid is an available powertrain offered across the Premiere, Reserve and Black Label trims, alongside the 2.0L turbocharged gas four-cylinder rated at 250 hp and 280 lb-ft with an eight-speed automatic. On the 2026 car the hybrid is a $3,000 option on all three trims. If a listing calls it a distinct model, that listing is not using Lincoln's own naming.

Fuel economy, decisively
The RX 350h is EPA rated 37 city / 34 highway / 36 combined. Lincoln publishes 29 city and 31 highway for the Nautilus hybrid and no combined figure at all. That is roughly 8 mpg in the city and 3 on the highway, and the gap is widest in exactly the short-trip, stop-and-go driving that fills a Chicago week.

Lexus covers the hybrid battery for 10 years or 150,000 miles. Lincoln covers hybrid unique components, the battery among them, for 8 years or 100,000 miles. On a vehicle you intend to keep past the second owner, that is a real difference in exposure.

Lexus publishes 72 months of corrosion coverage regardless of mileage. Lincoln's corrosion coverage is 5 years with unlimited mileage and is perforation coverage, meaning it applies when rust has gone all the way through the panel. In a city that salts its streets from November through March, that is worth reading closely on both warranty booklets.

Every RX grade includes two complimentary services, at 6 months or 5,000 miles and at 12 months or 10,000 miles. Lincoln includes no complimentary maintenance on Premiere or Reserve. Only Black Label carries it, as a 4 year / 50,000 mile Premium Maintenance program. If you are cross-shopping a Reserve against an RX, budget for the difference.

In the Kelley Blue Book 2026 Best Resale Value Awards, published 03/19/2026, Lexus was named Best Resale Value Luxury Brand and the RX won the Luxury Midsize SUV category. No Lincoln model appears in any category, or in the top ten overall.

Consumer Reports rates the 2026 RX Hybrid as about average for predicted reliability. It rates the 2026 Nautilus Hybrid as less reliable than the average new car. Since the hybrid powertrain is the subject of this comparison, that is the rating that matters, not the brand-level average.

Towing capacity
The RX is generally cited at up to 3,500 pounds. Lincoln publishes 1,750 pounds for the 2026 Nautilus. If you tow anything heavier than a small utility trailer, the Nautilus is simply the wrong vehicle and we would rather tell you that now.
Nine places the Nautilus is the stronger vehicle
Space, technology, crash-test results and the one feature the RX does not offer at any price.
The Nautilus wins on interior volume, on screen and audio hardware, on crash-test results as currently published, on seat comfort features that have no Lexus equivalent, and above all on hands-free highway driving. If you spend real time on the Kennedy or the Edens, that last one changes the daily experience of the car more than any other item on either list.
Hands-free highway driving
Lincoln confirmed for 2027: "Four years of standard BlueCruise 1.5, which enhances hands-free highway driving with smooth, seamless automatic lane changes." The RX has no hands-free system at any price.
Power and torque
285 combined hp confirmed for 2027 against 246. On the 2026 figure Lincoln has not restated, 295 lb-ft against 233.
Cargo volume
36.4 cu ft behind the rear seats and 71.3 with them folded, against 29.6 and 46.2. A 25 cu ft advantage at maximum. Both figures are 2026.
Displays
Lincoln confirmed for 2027: "The Lincoln Digital Experience anchored by the 48-inch panoramic display." The 11-inch centerstack touchscreen is the 2026 figure. The RX offers a 9.8-inch standard or 14-inch available screen.
Audio
28-speaker Revel Ultima 3D, standard on Black Label and optional on Reserve for 2026, against an available 21-speaker Mark Levinson system.
Seats and cabin experience
24-way Perfect Position front seats with Active Motion massage, plus Lincoln Rejuvenate and Digital Scent. There is no Lexus analogue to Rejuvenate.
Crash-test results
The Nautilus is an IIHS Top Safety Pick with a Good rating in the updated moderate overlap front test. The 2026 Lexus RX is rated Poor in that same test and holds no IIHS award.

Rear-seat room
Lincoln confirmed 43.1 inches of second-row legroom for 2027. The 2026 Nautilus rides on a 114.2-inch wheelbase against the RX's 112.2.
One item on that list deserves a sentence of its own, because it is the least conventional thing in either vehicle. Lincoln Rejuvenate combines seat massage, lighting, audio and scent into a timed session, and on the 2026 car it offered six themes as of 08/14/2026: Waterfall Meditation, Elements, Aurora Borealis, Forest Meditation, Tropical Paradise and Refreshing River, in five or ten minute sessions. Lincoln cites a Purdue University study that found measurable short-term benefits consistent with increased relaxation. It is available on Reserve and Black Label. Whether it is worth money to you is personal. There is nothing like it on an RX.
Hands-free driving is the feature you cannot buy on an RX
Not on a higher grade, not as an option, not as a subscription.
The Nautilus offers hands-free highway driving. The RX 350h does not, at any trim or price. Lexus does market a driver assistance suite called Lexus Teammate Advanced Drive, but Lexus's own description says it operates "under active supervision of the driver," and it was announced for select 2022 LS 500h all-wheel-drive models only. It has no RX application. Lexus Safety System+ 3.0, which is standard on the RX, is a very good advanced driver assistance package, and it still requires your hands on the wheel.
Lincoln confirmed four years of standard BlueCruise 1.5 for the 2027 Nautilus, described as enhancing "hands-free highway driving with smooth, seamless automatic lane changes." A note on scope, because this is where marketing usually gets vague: hands-free operation applies to prequalified sections of divided highway, not to city streets. Our reading of that, and we are flagging it as our interpretation rather than a Lincoln statement, is that a commute made up of Elston Avenue and Western Avenue will not benefit. A commute that includes long runs on the Kennedy, the Edens or the Dan Ryan is where the feature earns its keep, and it is also where the RX gives you nothing comparable.
One more honest note. Lincoln has confirmed version 1.5 for the 2027 car. It has not stated a BlueCruise version for the 2026 Nautilus, so we do not name one. And four years of included service is four years, not forever. Ask what renewal costs before you assume it.
The safety comparison is more one-sided than most buyers expect
Lexus has a deserved safety reputation. The current RX crash-test record does not match it.
The Nautilus is an IIHS Top Safety Pick and earns Good in the updated moderate overlap front test, which IIHS revised to weigh rear-passenger protection. The 2026 Lexus RX is rated Poor in that same test and holds no IIHS award for 2026. Both vehicles carry a 5-star NHTSA overall rating. If crash-test performance is near the top of your list, this is the clearest single result on the page.

The caveat we owe you
Neither IIHS nor NHTSA has published ratings for the 2027 Nautilus. The Nautilus results above are the ratings currently published for the vehicle as it stands. Lincoln's 08/13/2026 announcement described styling, colors, trim content and technology, not structural changes, but a rating is only a rating once the specific model year has been tested. Confirm current ratings on the IIHS and NHTSA sites before you buy.
Nearly the same length outside, a different vehicle inside
The cargo gap is the largest practical difference between these two.
The Nautilus is 193.2 inches long and the RX is 192.5, a difference of less than an inch. Behind the rear seats the Nautilus holds 36.4 cu ft to the RX's 29.6. With the rear seats folded the gap widens to 71.3 against 46.2, a 25 cu ft advantage. That is the difference between a weekend of hauling that fits and one that does not, and it is the single most useful thing to know if you are choosing between them on practicality alone.
The RX takes back a small amount elsewhere. It has 8.2 inches of ground clearance against the Nautilus's 8.0, and as noted above it tows considerably more. All of the dimensional figures in this section are 2026 numbers. Lincoln did not restate dimensions, cargo volume, ground clearance or towing for 2027.

What we can say about money, and what we will not say
There is no published 2027 Nautilus price. There is a published warranty comparison, and it matters more than most buyers realize.
Lincoln has not announced 2027 Nautilus pricing, so this page prints none. For context only, the 2026 Nautilus started at $53,995 for Premiere, $63,595 for Reserve and $77,660 for Black Label, all excluding a $1,995 destination charge, with the hybrid powertrain a $3,000 option on all three trims. Treat those as a reference point for where the model line has sat, not as a forecast. Lexus's official pricing documents were not accessible when we checked, so we quote no RX price as fact either.
